Michael Gardiner

Born in Scotland in 1970, Michael Gardiner studied at the universities of Oxford, Goldsmiths, St Andrews and Tokyo. In 2007 he was visiting fellow at Aberdeen University and is currently Assistant Professor in English and Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick University. His previous publications include Modern Scottish Culture and From Trocchi to Trainspotting: Scottish Critical Theory Since 1960. His short story collection Escalator was published by Polygon in April 2006. The title story, ‘Escalator’, was shortlisted for the 2006 Scotsman and Orange Short Story Award, and was published in the competition anthology, Work (Polygon, 2006).
