In addition it also includes lesser-known legends and stories including the prophecies of the Lady of Lawers (all now fulfilled except the most fearful), the unknown girl who became Empress of Morocco, and the pistols of Doune made entirely from horsehoe nails.

Archie McKerracher spent most of his life researching and writing about unusual aspects of Scottish history. He was the author of numerous newspaper and magazine articles and was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.
